Private Practice Consultations
Starting a private practice, whether right out of graduate school, on a part-time basis while working another job, or making the jump to a full-time practice, is an exciting experience, but one that takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
I am extremely grateful to the person who helped me learn the ropes of opening a private practice, and that is why I began offering Private Practice Consultations in 2011. If you are a Licensed Counselor, Registered Intern, or Graduate Student who is interested in opening a private practice, I would be happy to help you begin your journey, and congratulations on your new venture! The consultations I offer generally last for one hour, and give you the opportunity to ask all of the questions you have about starting and maintaining a successful private practice. Although there are general areas that I like to cover in each consultation, I feel that it is important for you to have your questions answered first and foremost, and the rest of the time is dedicated to what I feel are important aspects of running a successful private practice. If one consultation is not enough, you are welcome to schedule additional consultations as you begin to build your practice and have questions along the way.

Ethics of private practice
Making a business plan
Managing finances
Marketing strategies
The importance of networking
Having a website and online presence
Setting fees and scheduling appointments
Electronic record keeping
Multiple sources of income
Liability insurance
The importance of self-care
Gratitude journaling
Renting space versus a split-fee agreement
Determining a specialty area of practice
Start-up costs and materials needed

Rates for the consultations are as follows:

Licensed Practitioners: $100 per hour
Registered Interns: $90 per hour
Graduate Student Rate: $80 per hour
Group Consultation Rate (maximum of 3 participants): $50 per hour, per person

*It is recommended to book more than one hour for group consultations*
